Frequently Asked Questions

Here, you’ll find answers to all your questions about Run Stillwater’s Rain Check registration for runners who registered for 2020 and are using a Rain Check code to register for a 2023 Run Stillwater race.

Where can I find my Rain Check code(s)?

Your unique, one-time-use Rain Check code(s) was sent to you using the email you used to register for your 2020 race. Keep a record of it in a safe place. They are like cash. Once redeemed they cannot be regenerated.

I can’t find the email and don’t remember my Rain Check code. Can Run Stillwater send it to me again?

Keep a record of your Rain Check code(s) in a safe place. Each Rain Check code is unique and can be used only once. We do not have the ability to look up Rain Check codes for runners. Once redeemed by registering for a race, a Rain Check code cannot be used again or transferred to a different race.

How do Rain Check codes work?

Each Rain Check code is unique to you and good for one use only. Once you use your Rain Check code you are committed to that race. Your code is good for one of three distance categories, based on your original registration:

  • Long: Half Marathon/10-Mile – these codes begin with the letter “l” and a dash
  • Mid: 10K/12K – these codes begin with the letter “m” and a dash
  • 5K: 5K – these codes begin with the number “5” and a dash

You may use your code to register for any of our five 2023 races at the corresponding distance you originally signed up for.

Why doesn’t my Rain Check code work on the 2023 Run Stillwater registration site at www.runstillwater.com?

We are operating two registration systems. One for Rain Check registration for all runners who were registered for a Run Stillwater race that was canceled in 2020, and one for regular registration on the Run Stillwater website. This allows us to accommodate the volume of Rain Check registrations resulting from the cancelation of our 2020 season due to the pandemic.

You may use your Rain Check code to register for any race, but only for the corresponding distance in your original registration.

Example A:  Jayne registered for the 2020 Stillwater Half Marathon to run the half. She uses her Rain Check code to sign-up for the 10-Mile distance in the 2023 Stillwater Log Run.

Example B:  Jim registered for the 2020 St. Croix Crossing to run the half marathon. His registration is rejected when he tries to use the code to register for the 2023 St. Croix Crossing race to run the 10K. Jim then completes his registration by signing up for the half marathon distance and makes a plan to change his distance at packet pickup.

Can I switch distances? If so, how do I do that?

If you’d like to switch distances you may do so at Packet Pickup for that race. There is no charge to move down in distance. You will be charged the difference to move up to a longer race.

What if I want to run a different race than what I originally signed up for?

That’s great. Your Rain Check code may be used for any of our five races, as long as you sign up for the same distance category. See above for category descriptions under “How do Rain Check codes work?”

How long are Rain Check codes good for?

Rain Check codes are good through September 2023. Rain Check codes can be used to register for any of our five races in 2023. Unused Rain Check codes expire in September 2023 at the close of online registration for the 2023 Stillwater Log Run.

Can I register at Packet Pickup using a Rain Check code?

No. Codes will not be accepted at Packet Pickup. Rain Check codes may only be used when registering online. Online registration for all runners closes the Wednesday before race day.

What deadlines apply when using a rain check code?

Rain check codes are good throughout the season. However, you must register online before online registration closes for the race you want to run. No in-person registration is available using a rain check code.

Can I register for more than one race at a time if I have more than one Rain Check code?

Unfortunately, no. If you have multiple codes and want to run more than one race in 2023, you must register for each race separately. The Rain Check registration site can only accept one code at a time.

Can I register using my Rain Check code and sign up for other races at the same time using a credit card?

No. Of course, you may register for more than one race. However, the rain check registration system is for Rain Check entries only. To register and pay for a race, use the 2023 registration site at www.runstillwater.com.

When do the codes expire?

Your code is good through the 2023 season. Each code may be used one time. Codes are like cash; once a code is used it cannot be regenerated. Unused codes expire in September at the close of rain check registration for our final race of the 2023 season.

How do I get a refund instead?

We cannot provide refunds. As is industry standard, race registration is nonrefundable and nontransferable. With the extenuating circumstances in 2020, we chose to issue Rain Check codes to everyone who was registered for a 2020 race.

I signed up for the 2020 Stillwater Half Marathon and then requested that my race be moved to another race last season. Does that still apply?

No. When we cancelled the entire 2020 season, we designed a new system to accommodate everyone registered for a 2020 race. You must register again using the code sent to you and the rain-check registration site.

Can Run Stillwater just transfer my registration to 2023? I want to run the same race and distance I signed up for in 2020.

To run a race in 2023 you must register using your rain check code. This is to ensure your information is accurate for 2023 and we have the latest waiver information available.

What if I register and then can’t run the race?

Once Rain Check codes are used you are committed to that race. They are not refundable or transferrable to another race.

I originally registered for Mail My Packet. Will my packet still get mailed?

Yes. If you originally registered and paid for Mail My Packet, you will receive your packet in the mail if you register by the Mail My Packet deadline for each race. You WILL NOT see the option to choose Mail My Packet when registering using a rain check code, but your record shows it in our system and will be flagged during processing. Your packet will be mailed to you at the address provided.

I moved and originally signed up for Mail My Packet. Will my packet still get mailed to the right address?

Yes. You’ll be asked for your contact information during registration. The address you provide when registering using a Rain Check code will be used to mail your packet.

I originally registered for Mail My Packet and want to sign up for a race after the Mail My Packet deadline. Can I still get my packet mailed?

Deadlines still apply when using Rain Check codes including personalized bibs and Mail My Packet. You may register using a Rain Check code until the close of online registration the Wednesday before each race. However, if you register for a race after the Mail My Packet deadline, you must pick up your race materials at packet pickup and you will not be refunded for the cost of Mail My Packet.

I originally registered for a customized Etag. Will I still get my Etag after the race?

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide Etags.

Can I add Mail My Packet to my registration when using a Rain Check code?

Unfortunately, no. The rain check registration system cannot accept any form of payment except rain check codes. You cannot add and pay for services like Mail My Packet using a rain check code. Please contact us prior to the Mail My Packet deadlines for each race, if you would like more information.
